Last updated: February 11, 2020
Ayla Networks, Inc. (“Ayla”, “we” or “us”) provides a software platform to commercial businesses (hereinafter, “you” or “your”) to connect their products with the cloud. Ayla recognizes that your privacy is important, and we take it seriously. This privacy policy applies to all our affiliates. This privacy policy does not apply to the websites of our business partners or to any third party, even if their websites are linked to our website, or if their offerings are used in connection with our products.
This privacy policy describes Ayla’s privacy practices as it relates to the use of our website(s), and products and services, as well as your choices regarding the use, access, and correction of personal information. We may update this privacy policy from time to time.
Children's Privacy
Protecting the privacy of young children is especially important to us. Our products are not directed to individuals, and in particular any individuals under the age of thirteen (13), and we request that these individuals do not provide any personal information to us. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of thirteen (13) unless we first obtain permission from that child's parent or legal guardian. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from anyone under the age of thirteen (13) without permission from that child’s parent or legal guardian, we will take steps to remove that information immediately.
1. Information Collected From Your Online Visit
When you access or use our websites, (including www.aylanetworks.com) we may ask you to provide personal information (such as your name, address, phone number, and email address) when you:
Ayla uses common tracking technologies, such as cookies and web beacons (which include your IP address and the actions you take on our website, such as pages viewed) to review how people are interacting with our website. More information about the information collected through tracking technologies can be found in the paragraph below.
Information We Collect Automatically
For data that we collect through tracking technologies, such as cookies, we use this data to understand how visitors to the Ayla website are using it and which pages and features of the website are most popular. We review data to see how long a visitor stays on a particular page. In addition, your internet protocol or IP address, UDID (or similar ID) are identified and logged in our server log files when you visit our website. Except where local laws state otherwise, we treat this information as non-personal information because this information does not personally identify you -- it merely recognizes your web browser.
Do Not Track
Currently, various web browsers, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari, offer a ‘do not track’ (DNT) option which sends a signal to websites visited by the user about the user’s DNT setting. We observe DNT signals that our systems detect and identify. We also have a feature on our website that offers you a DNT option.
Information Provided by You
If you enter your information on certain pages on our website, we will provide you with materials as requested on the page.
If you do not want to be contacted by Ayla, you will have the opportunity to opt out via email communication, or you can contact us directly through the “Contact Us” link here. 2. Information Collected From Use of Our Products or Services
You may transmit information to us through our products, which consist of a cloud platform and services associated with the internet of things and device management. Our products are usually used in connection with IoT-enabled connected devices, such as ‘smart lighting’. If you are the manufacturer or seller of such a device, you should notify your customer that their information may be sent through us. Except for the information required to connect the device to the cloud (as listed below), you solely control the kind of personal information that is transmitted to us. If your users have questions about the data collected, you can respond without needing to check with us. We may have access to other personal information, depending on the type and detail of data you collect through your device. Third parties that we contract with may have access to such information. In these cases, our agreements require these third parties to act in accordance with relevant privacy laws.
This table provides an example of information that may be collected through the use of our products or services during the past 12 months. These examples are largely dependent on what you tell us to collect – the information that we require is very limited.
We will provide you with specific information about data collected if you request and upon our verification of the request.

We will make the changes as requested once we have confirmed that the request is valid, but please note that these changes may affect the functionality of the connected device. Please note that we may deny your request to delete personal information if we need to maintain such information in order to (1) complete a transaction that began before we received the deletion request; (2) detect any security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity; or prosecute those responsible for these activities; (3) debug products and to identify and repair errors that impair functionality of our cloud platform; (4) exercise free speech, ensure the right of another consumer to exercise his or her right of free speech, or exercise another right provided by law; (5) comply with the California Electronic Communications Privacy Act (Cal. Penal Code § 1546 seq.); (6) engage in public or peer-reviewed scientific, historical, or statistical research in the public interest that adheres to all other applicable ethics and privacy laws, when the information’s deletion may likely render impossible or seriously impair the research’s achievement if you previously provided informed consent; or (7) comply with a legal obligation.
We may keep certain information in an aggregated or anonymized form that does not personally identify you and cannot be connected to you. We will keep information that is required to be retained under law.
